AbleChildAfrica is forming a Youth Council of young people who want to play an active role in supporting our vision to create a world where all disabled children are able to fulfil their potential.
Disabled children across Africa are some of the most disadvantaged in the world with only 2% going to school and disabled girls twice as likely to experience abuse. As world leaders have adopted the Sustainable Development Goals, which includes commitment to inclusive and quality education for all and universal healthcare, there is a need for astrong youth voice in the UK to fight for the rights of disabled children in Africa, making sure our leaders deliver on their promises.
Who should apply?
- We are looking for a group of up to 10 young people with a wide range of skills and interests incl. research, public speaking, social media and campaigning.
- For the first year pilot project, we are currently looking for members with easy access to London (as travel expenses are limited)
- We particularly encourage those with lived experience of disability to apply.

Members will join the council for an initial year. The Youth Council will be coordinated by our Youth Ambassador with support from the staff team.
