Global Youth Ambassadors Condemn Kidnap Of Teachers and Students In Lagos (Press Release) | Diplomacy Opportunities
We the Global Youth Ambassadors of A World at School condemn the inhumane acts of Militants who stormed the Lagos Model College, Igbonla, Epe, Lagos, on Thursday October 6, 2016 abducting four students, the Vice Principal and a Teacher in the school.
Targeting schools and school children is a grave violation of international humanitarian law. Teachers and School children are not pawns that can be use to achieve selfish desires by sect groups.
We are are calling on the State Government and security agencies to act swiftly to ensure to safe Return of these children and school teachers to their homes and family.
We also use this medium to call on the Lagos State Government to adopt and implement the Safe School protocols. Children should not have to choose between getting an education and being safe.
“Children should not have to choose between getting an education and being safe.”
Schools are, and must remain, safe places where children can learn and grow in peace without fear from violence and disruption of academic progress.
