The competition is asking a series of questions that relates to one of the Case for Space themes. The top 25 photos with the most likes (wows, and/or hearts) will be judged by a panel of independent artists, development professionals and UN staff. From the top 25 photos, ten will be selected for printing and display at the “Evidence-based Policies on Youth Development in Asia” workshop taking place on 29 May-1 June in Bangkok, Thailand. The photographer with the top photo will win a fully funded trip to present their work to the workshop participants.
Who: Young people living in Asia and the Pacific (age: 18-29)
What: For each theme, share a photo on Facebook or Instagram, using the #Case4SpaceInsta hashtag. The photo MUST answer the question of the respective theme (5 in total) and include a maximum 50-word caption describing the scene, image and/or issue. To be eligible to win a trip to Bangkok, to present your photo, you MUST participate in all the themes listed below. The photos will be left to the creativity of the photographer, but should attempt to answer the following questions:
Theme 1: Freedom of expression, association and assembly
Within the context of your community, what does freedom (online/offline) mean to you? – Online and Offline freedoms
Theme 2: Young women and civic space
What does civic space look like for young women in your country?
Theme 3: Online safety and security
What are the risks young people experience online and how does this impact you or the life of someone you know?
Theme 4: Right to participate (Young people engaging in social and political debates)
How do young people participate in civic space in your country?
Theme 5: Civic space in your community
Civic space takes different forms around the world. What does civic space look like in your community?

How: You must post a total of five photos, one for each theme, publicly on Instagram and/or Facebook, using the #Case4SpaceInsta hashtag
Where: The competition will take place only on Instagram and Facebook
When: 15 March – 5 May, 2017
Terms and conditions: Your submission permits the United Nations and its partners to distribute the photo for non-profit use. Additionally, all photo submissions must be owned and taken by the submitting individual. Failure to do so will result in immediate disqualification and possible legal action by the original owner of the photo.
*Note: You may join the competition at any time, but we will not take submission after 5 May.
* Only young people from UNDP focus countries are eligible to win, but all groups, genders, nationalities, and/or regions are encouraged to participate.
