Ideosync UNESCO Information Fellows Media RIghts Fellowship
The Ideosync-UNESCO-Information Fellowship (IUIF) aims to take young Indians through an intense 13 month-long leadership journey that sets them on the path to understand Communication for Social Change and Media from a rights perspective, and leverage its power to create new pathways for information creation, access and sharing, leading to better social, political and economic outcomes for the most marginalised communities of India. The fellows will be mentored to become socially conscious leaders of tomorrow who facilitate and catalyze positive change in our society.
Through the Fellowship, each selected fellow will be equipped with an understanding of the guiding principles of Communication for Social Change (C4SC) from a social justice, power inequity and rights perspective. Community participation, knowledge equity and freedom of speech will form the core of the fellowship along with media rights and freedoms and understanding issues of technology, power and marginalization. The Fellowship will also equip the selected fellows in basic media skills of writing and
creating audiovisual content; as well as understanding policy and research methodologies for C4SC and media related work. Throughout the Fellowship, each IUIF fellow will be involved in ensuring greater citizen access to and rights over media, with a focus on community media, communication and media research, and new media technologies.
