Fully Funded LEAD Alliance Exchange Program 2020

Fully Funded LEAD Alliance Exchange Program 2020

LEAD is a program sponsored by USAID and implemented by World Learning in partnership with the International Republican Institute (IRI) and Center for Citizenship Education. LEAD Alliance is the program’s exciting component that IRI implements to bring together regional emerging leaders from diverse sectors — civil society, media, government, private industry and academia — to pursue positive change. Together with World Learning, IRI connects young emerging leaders from Myanmar, Bhutan and Kyrgyzstan with Mongolia’s next generation of young leaders to unite the region’s most inspiring and motivated democracy champions. LEAD Alliance Fellows selected for the program will participate in webinars and networking events, and travel to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia to join their international peers at the LEAD Alliance Summit 2020 to be held from February 11 – February 14, 2020.

As part of the LEAD Alliance, Fellows will have the opportunity to apply for small grants as country teams to implement approximately three-month long, community development projects in their home countries while working alongside selected Mongolian peer mentors. The projects are designed by the Fellows to help resolve issues and bring positive change they are passionate about, while honing and practicing their leadership skills in life.

* Preference will be given to applicants with relevant professional achievements who have not previously participated in U.S.-funded exchange programs.

* Applicants will need to have a current and valid passport and be willing to undertake the necessary visa requirements to enter Mongolia for the duration of the LEAD Alliance Summit 2020.

Duration: Applicants will need to be available to participate in the program fully: engaging in online webinars, traveling to Mongolia for the Summit to arrive in Ulaanbaatar on February 11 and depart back on February 15, and committed to co-implementing a community development project, preliminarily scheduled to take place from April to June 2020.

Funding:  Fully-funded. The following costs will be covered by LEAD Alliance program:

  • International and domestic travel necessary for participation in the Summit
