Generations For Peace is a leading global non-profit peacebuilding organisation founded by HRH Prince Feisal Al Hussein in 2007. Dedicated to sustainable conflict transformation at the grassroots, Generations For Peace empowers volunteer leaders of youth to promote active tolerance and responsible citizenship in communities experiencing different forms of conflict and violence.

Carefully facilitated sport-based games, art, advocacy, dialogue, and empowerment activities provide an entry point to engage children, youth, and adults, and a vehicle for integrated education and sustained behavioural change.

  1. Purpose of the Position:

Reporting to, guided and directed by Programmes Manager, the Programmes Officer will:

  • Supports on management of the assigned Programme(s);
  • Ensures positive communication with donors and partners;
  • Supports Programmes Manager on Programmes Department’s inputs to grant proposals, presentations and reports for/to donors and partners, as well as the presentations and reports to GFP Board/General Assembly, and others;
  • leads on the monitoring and evaluation of the programmes (with support from the Institutional Learning Team’s M&E staff in knowledge transfer, capacity-building and data analysis);
  • leads close coordination with the Communications Team on communications related to the programmes’ implementation, evaluation, and impact.

The Programmes Officer also actively liaises with the Institutional Learning Team and the rest of Programmes Department and takes part in the activities promoting and supporting horizontal learning across the Department.

2.  Responsibilities:

Reporting to, guided and directed by the Programmes Manager, the Programmes Officer will:

  • Lead and support of the training for Ministry of Youth staff, youth participants, and GFP staff members on child protection concepts, policies, and procedures.
  • Support the Programmes Manager to develop, update, and set the child protection policies and procedures for the ministry of Youth
  • Working closely with Ministry of Youth staff members to set up a referral system within the ministry
  • Conduct a desk review process for the existing child protection policies at Ministry of Education, Family Protection unit, and UN agencies.
  • Supervise a programme coordinator and field coordinators and build their capacity on Child Protection policies and procedures
  • Track the programme implementation progress according to the designed workplan/annual plan and conduct a monthly review to identify the gaps and alternative solutions in case any challenges faced
  • Track and manage the programme Child Protection component budget by comparing the budget with the actual expenses, and setting the forecast for the budget in coordination with the finance department
  • In coordination with the Child Protection expert, develop, update, and set the Child Protection curriculum that can be adapted and used by the Ministry of Youth.
  • Assisting in designing, needs assessment, , evaluation and reporting.
  • Providing recommendation for the selection of Ministry of Youth staff, its centres, and the target group
  • Ensuring smooth and timely execution of all aspects of programmatic activities, , communications, monitoring and evaluation or other activities.
  • Continuously updating Programmes Database, using GFP’s formats, for assigned Programme(s)
  • Conducting in person field visits as part of programme monitoring and providing mentoring and support to volunteers/pioneers
  • Ensuring close coordination with the Institutional Learning Team’s and M&E staff execution of monitoring and evaluation processes in assigned Programme(s) according to the donor’s M&E frameworks/log frames,
  • Supporting the Programmes Manager and in coordination with Fundraising and Communications Department staff, on the development and stewardship of effective relationships/partnerships with donor, ministries commercial partner, and media partner supporting assigned Programme
  • Ensuring regular flow, in a pre-agreed format, of high-quality information and evidence to feed communications needs, donor reporting as well as future donor prospecting
  • Providing inputs in, monthly reports to the Programmes Manager on priorities and progress of assigned Programme(s), any problems arising, and plans for continual innovation and growth
  • Providing inputs to the general briefings for staff and other audiences on assigned Programme(s)
  • Coordination of regular GFP staff and partner field visits
  • Supporting Programmes Department’s role in delivery of various type of trainings including Camps, Advanced Trainings, Specialised Trainings, Refresher Workshops, online trainings, etc.) Any other delegated tasks as prescribed by supervisor.

  • Quality of relationships with donors, partners, and Local Partner Organisations in assigned Programme(s)
  • Quality of programmes database for assigned Programme(s)
  • High-quality inputs into development of programme donor proposals and grant applications
  • Continuous personal learning, competency development, and growth

5. Education, Qualifications, Competences, Skills Required:

Essential:

  • Jordanian Nationality
  • University bachelor’s degree essential, in a relevant discipline such as: international development, human rights, psychology, sociology, international law or other social science field is required.
  • At least three years professional experience in a related position/positions in child protection.
  • Experience in leading a team of two members or more
  • Experience in programme design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation
  • Experience establishing and developing partnerships with organisations and ministries
  • Experience in training and facilitation
  • Experience in mentoring others
  • Experience in curriculum development
  • Experience of working in a multi-cultural team
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities and work under pressure
  • Ability to reflect, learn, and improve, and experience in using feedback processes for learning
  • Excellent computer skills (documents/spreadsheets/databases/presentations/calendars/email)
  • Excellent spoken and written English and Arabic, including written programme plans and reports
  • Interest in global current affairs, conflict and peace building and international development

Preferred:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of different theories of conflict transformation and social change
  • Experience in international development especially community development and behaviour change programming are useful but not essential
  • Experience in different forms of evaluation, including participatory evaluation, participatory video, most significant change, is useful but not essential
